Visa Notes & Requirements
Passport: Original passport with validity extending at least three months after the intended date of departure from Latvia or another Member State, with a minimum of two blank pages for visa stamping. Copies of the identification pages and pages containing information about previously issued visas.
Please Note:
- Passports issued more than 10 years ago will not be accepted by the Embassy.
- Indian passports can only be accepted if the biodata, including name, date of birth, place of birth and sex, has not been modified by an observation. Observations regarding passport validity or observations on the last page are acceptable.
- Attach all old passports, if any.
Schengen Visa Application Form: One online visa application form duly filled and signed by the applicant.
Photo Specification: Two recent passport-size photographs with a matt or semi-matt finish, 60%-80% face coverage, white background and without borders. Size: 35mm x 45mm.
Please Note: Photographs should not be more than 6 months old, scanned or stapled, and should not have been used for any previous visa.
Covering Letter: Covering letter from the applicant on the company's letterhead stating the applicant's name, designation, passport number, purpose and duration of the visit. The letter should be duly signed by an authorized signatory with the company stamp and addressed to the Visa Officer, Embassy of Latvia, New Delhi.
Invitation Letter: Original invitation letter from the Latvia host or inviting company. The host must contact the Citizenship and Immigration Department and complete the required application form, which must be approved by the Immigration Authorities and Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This is mandatory.
The invitation should be dated no later than 6 months prior to the application date.
Financial Documents
- Personal ITR for the last 2 years.
- Salary slips for the last 3 months.
- Original bank statement for the last 6 months with bank seal and signature. The bank statement should be printed on A4-size paper.
Proof of Occupation
If the applicant is employed:
- Employment contract.
- Employer's statement approving the applicant's holidays.
If the applicant is a company owner or self-employed:
- Certificate of registration of the company.
If the applicant is sponsored:
- Proof of sponsorship and/or information provided in the invitation.
If the applicant is a minor:
- If travelling with only one parent, written consent certified by a public notary from the other parent or guardian, except where one parent has sole care or custody.
- If travelling without parents, written consent certified by a public notary from both parents or guardians having care and custody.
- Copies of the parents' passports. If not applicable, provide the applicant's birth certificate and copies of the parents' ID cards.
Proof of Accommodation: Hotel booking and proof of sufficient means to pay for the accommodation. Hotel booking is not required if accommodation is included in the invitation.
Please Note: Hotel dates should match the ticket dates and the maximum stay should be in Latvia.
Airline Reservation: Confirmed round-trip tickets.
Medical Insurance: Travel medical insurance valid throughout the Schengen area and covering the entire intended period of stay plus an additional 15 days as a grace period. The minimum coverage must be EUR 30,000, including urgent medical attention, emergency hospital treatment and repatriation in the event of death.
Biometric Procedure
Indian citizens travelling to Schengen countries for short-term stays of a maximum of 90 days within a 180-day period are required to visit a VFS visa application centre personally to provide biometric data, including fingerprints and a digital photograph.
For subsequent applications within the next 5 years, biometric data may be copied from the previous visa application included in the VIS.

Visa Application Form: Long-stay visa application form, printed and signed by the applicant.
Photographs: Two colour photographs, size 35mm x 45mm, taken within the last 6 months and with a white background.
Travel Medical Insurance: Travel medical insurance valid throughout the Schengen area and covering the entire intended period of visit, generally for 30 days. Minimum coverage must be EUR 30,000, including urgent medical attention, emergency hospital treatment and repatriation in the event of death.
OCMA Decision: Copy of the decision issued by OCMA regarding the granting of the residence permit.
Please Note: Visa processing time is usually 5 working days. When collecting the passport, the applicant should bring their ID card. If collecting another person's passport, an authorization letter along with ID must be submitted.
