Business Visa

Visa Notes & Fees

Passport: Original passport with validity of minimum six months and minimum two blank pages for visa stamp. Attach all your old passports, if any.

Ethiopia Visa Application Form: One visa application form duly filled and signed.

Photo Specification: One recent passport-size photograph with matt or semi-matt finish, 60%-80% face coverage, white background and without border (Size: 35mm x 45mm).

Covering Letter: Covering Letter on the company's letterhead stating applicant's name, designation, passport number, specific purpose and duration of visit. The letter should be duly signed by the authorized signatory mentioning his/her name and designation along with the company seal and should be addressed to:
The Visa Officer, Embassy of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, New Delhi.

Invitation Letter: Invitation Letter from the Ethiopian host/inviting company on its letterhead stating applicant's name, designation, passport number, specific purpose and duration of visit. The letter should be duly signed by the authorized signatory mentioning his/her name and designation along with the company seal and should be faxed directly to the Embassy. A copy of the same has to be attached with the application form.

Airline Reservation: Return air ticket.

Medical:

  • Original YFC (Yellow Fever Certificate) has to be submitted along with the visa application and the applicant has to carry the same at the time of travel.
  • Applicant should have completed a full course of vaccination against Polio, preferably with Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV), and should receive an additional dose of OPV at least six weeks before each international journey. The validity of a full course of vaccination will be one year.

Please Note:

  • Copy of Company Registration Certificate should be faxed directly to the Embassy and one copy to us.
  • For first-time travelers, recommendation from Indian Chamber of Commerce is also required.
Important Instruction: Applicants seeking Business Visa (Short Meeting, Conference, Installation of Machineries, NGOs, International Organizations' official business, Government Work, Teaching Assignment, Employment, Exhibitions, etc.) to Ethiopia have to apply for the aforesaid visa category after immigration approval has been arranged by the Invitee (Counterpart in Ethiopia).

The Invitee will approach the Immigration Office in Ethiopia with the invitation letter to seek approval for Business Visa. The Immigration Office will issue permission for issuance of the type and duration of Business Visa and forward it to the Ethiopian Embassy in New Delhi.

After receiving the approval from the Immigration Office, the Consular Section will issue the necessary visa as per the instructions.

If visiting Friends or Relatives, then invitation letter or sponsorship letter duly attested by the Ministry of Immigration, Government of Ethiopia is to be submitted.

Transit Visa

Visa Notes & Fees

Passport: Original passport with validity of minimum six months and minimum two blank pages for visa stamp. Attach all your old passports, if any.

Additional Requirement: Valid visa of final destination.

Ethiopia Visa Application Form: One visa application form duly filled and signed.

Photo Specification: One recent passport-size colored photograph with matt or semi-matt finish, 60%-80% face coverage, white background and without border (Size: 35mm x 45mm).

Please Note: Photograph should not be more than 3 months old, scanned/stapled, and should not have been used in any previous visas. You can use the same photograph which you have used to obtain the Destination Visa.

Covering Letter: Covering Letter from the applicant on the company's letterhead stating applicant's name, designation, passport number, purpose and duration of visit. The letter should be addressed to:
The Visa Officer, Embassy of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, New Delhi.

Ticket: Confirmed ticket reservation proving the transit port of entry is Ethiopia.

Medical:

  • Original YFC (Yellow Fever Certificate) has to be submitted along with the visa application and the applicant has to carry the same at the time of travel.
  • Applicant should have completed a full course of vaccination against Polio, preferably with Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV), and should receive an additional dose of OPV at least six weeks before each international journey. The validity of a full course of vaccination will be one year.

E Visa

Visa Notes & Fees

Applicants seeking a visa to Ethiopia for a short-stay visit can now avail an eVisa.

Requirements for Ethiopian eVISA (Tourist):

  1. Passport with validity of minimum six months after applying for e-VISA.
  2. A scanned passport-size photo is required.
  3. Travel and accommodation details.

Note:

  1. Single entry with validity of 30 days.
  2. Once the online application is approved, applicants will receive an email authorizing them to travel to Ethiopia and they will get their passport stamped with the visa upon arrival in Addis Ababa.
  3. The processing time of Ethiopian e-Visa is up to 3 days from the time of application.

Additional Notes:

  • Currently, travelers with e-Visa are allowed to enter Ethiopia via Addis Ababa Bole International Airport. Entry via other ports of entry is not allowed.
  • The validity of Ethiopian e-Visa starts from the date you intend to enter Ethiopia, not from the date of issue.
